We
here at Watauga are very lucky to have such a wonderful library!
The library contains an inventory of books, materials, and A-V equipment. The internet is accessible through the library.
Each class has the opportunity to go to the
library once a week for 45 minutes of library lessons and book check-out with the librarian. Library skills, literature appreciation, and comprehension are the main skills stressed during this time.
The library is available for check-out, return of books, individual and small group assistance, and help with Accelerated Reader in the mornings and afternoons each day.
The library works closely with classroom teachers to provide books and materials they request to enhance classroom instruction.
Accelerated Reader, a computerized reading management program has been implemented school-wide. Students in grades 1-5 can use Accelerated Reader in the classrooms and computer lab for quizzes on books they have read. To promote reading and library usage, there will be a reward trip at the end of the year for students who have acquired predetermined points by passing AR quizzes.
READING REQUIREMENTS: The Reading Committee will be meeting to determine this year's Reading Requirements. Information will be posted as soon as possible.
