The Michael L. Printz Award is given yearly to the book that best shows excellence in young adult literature. Each year one winner and four honor books are named.

This year's winner is The White Darkness, by Geraldine McCaughrean.

The honor books this year are Elizabeth Knox's Dreamquake, Judith Clarke's One Whole and Perfect Day, A.M. Jenkins's Repossessed, and Stephanie Hemphill's Your Own, Sylvia: A Verse Portrait of Sylvia Plath.
